The city of Bandar Abbas is located in South of Iran and is one of the major ports in the shore of Persian Gulf. The increase of water demand for residential and commercial consumptions of this city together with lack of water sources for the surrounded villages is the major reason to supply water from other resources. On the other hand the existing Water Treatment Plant has been divided into 2 compartments in which the sand filters are located in the city of Bandar Abbas, while the other components of the treatment are located in Minab Dam, almost 120 km upstream of the city and this caused maintenance problems for the existing supply system.
This project consists of construction of Sarney Dam and transmission 1 m3/s raw water to the location of Minab Dam and construction of the new water treatment plant adjacent to the existing one.
Sarney Dam and Water Supply System have been financed by IDB (Islamic Development Bank) in the form of an istisna toward the cost of Sarney Dam and Water Supply Project. In this regard Project Management (PMC) Consultancy Service has been awarded to JV of ER-GE, ERBIL & IRANAB, which ER-GE is the leading company.
Sarney Dam is earth fill dam with volume of 1.826.000 m3 and height of 52 m. GRP Water transmission pipelines with length of 35,5 km and diameter of 1000 mm. Water treatment plant with chemical and physical process in two modules with capacity of 2 m3/sec, only physical treatment with capacity of 1 m3/sec.
Services:
- Project Management Consultancy (PMC) consists: Control and confirm whole activities of Engineer and Contractors, including Tender Documents, Contractual and Claims, Financial Control and matching the project progression with IDB's regulations as well as FIDIC's rules and specifications.
