Highway Design Works
The design services for the connection roads of Ankara Interurban Bus Terminal (AŞOT) include provision of services for primary, preliminary, implementation and detailed design and production of tender documents of about 4 km long connection roads and 3 interchanges. Scope of the work for different sections of the project are given below:
A) About 3.0 km long Main Connection Road with 2x3 lanes between the Terminal and Anadolu Boulevard,
Route options of main connection road and junctions were examined and traffic studies, determining geometrical standards and stormwater drainage system studies were carried out.
B) Junctions on Main Connection Road,
- Çiftlik Road Junction,
- Anadolu Boulevard Junction,
- Intermediate Junction.
Traffic studies of 3 junctions, one being complete cloverleaf, forming other roads intersecting with the main connection road; determining the geometrical standards; determining and designing of spans and widths of junction bridges.
C) Junction Bridges,
There are a total three bridges with 2 spans at junctions, one bridge is 29.40 m wide, the other two are 20 m wide. In addition, one 50 m long under crossing with 10 m span and a 30 m long service road with 8 m span. Traffic loads, structural studies and foundation studies of these bridges and under crossings were carried out and designed.
In design of these roads and junctions, an uninterrupted traffic flow, desired international standards and ensuring minimum speed changes were aimed. General Directorate of Highways and the international standards such as AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) were utilized in the production of the designs.
