Sewerage and Stormwater Network Design Works
Al-Dijel is located 65KM in north of Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. The population of this city in the goal year of 2039 has been estimated as 72597 people. Total area of the city is 712 hectares. Some parts of the city have already been served by sewerage and stormwater networks. But most of the city remained without any collection system. High level of ground water in the city plus the inefficient sewerage & stormwater networks have forced the Iraqi Ministry of Municipality & Public Works to complete all remained part of the city. Joint Venture of Al-Ribat & Yedaş companies (Iraqi-Turkish JV) have undertaken a Turn Key contract for implementation and construction of both Sanitary Sewage & Stormwater Networks for remained parts of the Al-Dijel city. Preparation of primary report and detailed design drawings for these networks and related pumping stations were in the scope of engineering services carried out by ER-GE. The Primary Design included design criteria, conceptual design and alternatives for most economical implementation of the project for both Sewerage and Stormwater Networks. Accordingly the detailed design drawings and calculation reports of the selected alternative have been prepared. The sewage collection system is comprised of 34 km gravity UPVC pipe with diameters from 250 mm to 500 mm, 3 pumping stations and 13 km ductile iron forcemain pipelines with diameter from 200 mm to 400 mm to transmit all the raw sewage to the location of wastewater treatment plant.
Stormwater network with rainfall density of 2 years return period also has been designed for an area of 400 hectares, having no stormwater network, within the city. Gravity UPVC & GRP pipes with total length of 14.6 km and diameters up to 1400 mm, 10,5 km ductile iron forcemain pipelines and 5 pumping stations have been designed within the scope of the work.
