Solid Waste Projects (Sanitary Landfills)
Elazığ Solid Waste Sanitary Landfill is designed for disposal of domestic solid wastes of Elazığ Municipality until 2027. The landfill area consists of 3 lots. The capacity of the landfill is 3.164.000 m3 fulfilling the requirements for the goal population of 456.475 people. The design of sanitary landfill is carried out in accordance with Turkish Legislations which is adapted by EU directives. The lining system for bottom and slopes is made up of natural clay layer, 2 mm HDPE flexible membrane and geotextile. The leachate collection system consists of HDPE perforated pipes having diameter of min 250 mm. The leachate will be collected in a pond and then will be recycled to the top of dump.
The Sanitary Landfill Area will have also some necessary operation units, which are listed as follows:
- 3 Water Storage Tanks for fire extingushing,
- Fire fighting system,
- Gas drainage and disposal system,
- Ground water drainage system & monitoring wells,
- Surface water drainage systems,
- Control and access roads for the lots,
- Lighting, high-voltage network projects, low-voltage lighting projects and reports.
